At 16:55 hours Co. 20
was alerted to assist Co. 14 (Cheat Lake) and Co. 12
(Brookhaven) with a structure fire at 1504 Cheat Road. The
call was originally reported by Secure US and dispatched as a
Fire Alarm at 16:45 hours. Not soon after that the call
was upgraded to a structure fire with smoke showing.
Engine 142 (Cheat Lake) was the first unit to arrive on scene
and reported smoke showing from the rear of the residence.
Crews from E-142 made the initial attack and found a small fire
in the basement. Engine 203 arrived on scene and assisted
in fire attack and ventilation. Crews remained on scene
for salvage and overhaul. Damages to the home were
contained to the basement although there was smoke damage
throughout. Engine 122(Brookhaven), Tanker 172(Granville),
Tanker 143(Cheat Lake), and Unit 202 also responded. One
firefighter was transported by Mon EMS to Monongalia General
Hospital for heat exhaustion. No other injuries were
reported. Remaining units cleared at 20:32.
