05/01/2006 - Structure Fire - Crawford Avenue
At 2204 hours on 05/01/2006, Companies 20, 17(Granville), and
23(Westover) were alerted for a structure fire at 407 Crawford
Avenue, six blocks from Company 20. Initial reports
indicated a possible working residential fire. Engine 203
responded within minutes of the call with four personnel under
the direction of 20-1(Chief Jason Quinn) and arrived on scene to
report a light smoke condition. E-203's crew made entry
into the residence and the incident was upgraded to a working
fire. At this time, Engine 201 under the direction of
20-4(Capt. Donnie Goodwin), caught the hydrant and laid 400' of LDH to supply Engine 203. Also on scene were Ladder 176,
Engine 233, and Unit 202. Interior crews met with a heavy
smoke condition, located a self extinguished ceiling light
fixture as the source of the fire. PPV was set up to clear
the building of smoke and the fire room was overhauled.
Red Cross was notified for the displaced residents. Last
Units cleared at 0003 hours.
