The Star City VFD along with Co. 17 (Granville) and Co. 23
(Westover) were alerted for a reported structure fire in the
area of 350 Wedgewood Dr. (Sterling Ridge Apts.) at 11:16, with
the caller reporting heavy smoke visible from Sterling Ridge.
Engine 201 responded and arrived on scene at 11:28. Personnel
reported two apparent illegal burns consisting of construction
and building materials at the site of a new housing development
under construction. The location of the burn and access to the
scene were later determined to be off Poplar Woods Dr. A 1 1/2"
trash line from Engine 173 was used to extinguish the fires.
Remaining units cleared at 11:47.
