Structure Fire – Saint Clair’s Village

On Wednesday, September 16th, 2020 at 2025hrs, The Star City VFD was dispatched to a reported structure fire in Saint Clairs Village off Van Voorhis Road. Engine 201 responded in less than 3 minutes with 6 members. E-201 arrived on the scene of a single-wide mobile home with smoke coming from the front porch and A side of the structure. The crew initiated fire suppression with a water can on the front porch where it was noted that a chair was on fire on that had extended through the A side of the structure extending into the interior wall. Then entry was forced into the residence through the front door. Crews came in contact with a moderate smoke condition inside. One cat was removed from the residence and reunited with the homeowner in good condition. The inside of the residence was checked for extension by pulling the interior wall and ceiling and utilizing a thermal imaging camera. A positive pressure fan was placed in service at the front door to aid with ventilation. A 1 3/4″ handline was deployed for overhaul. The American Red Cross contacted for one female that had been displaced. At this time the cause of the fire is still unknown but the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office and The WV State Fire Marshal‘s Office are handling the investigation.
